My Lil Pumpkins

It is a family tradition to carve pumpkins. Daniel and Breana have always loved to carve their design and eat the roasted seeds. This year Brandon enjoyed getting out the pumpkin "guts" and feeling the squishy stuff in his fingers. He too loved the roasted pumpkin seeds. Daniel still gets Breana to clean out his pumpkin because he doesn't like the gross feeling. looks like Brandon doesn't care about the slimy stuff!

Terrible doggie day

Denny was away working in Mississippi and the kids were playing around the house. Brandon went outside while I was cooking dinner. Breana apparently left the sliding glass door open earlier. I heard a loud ( I am hurt) cry from Brandon. I went outside and saw blood. I asked what happened as I brought him inside. He said that "DODGER was rude at Brandon. Dodger put his teeth on me like this." I asked if he bit him and he told me that he didn't, he just "tried to eat my face". I realized that the blood was coming from his lip and the rest had just been spread by his rubbing. I made the difficult decision to send the dog away. Denny and I talked at length about this decision because we loved the dog that had been a part of the family for nine years, but ultimately decided he could not live here and be so unpredictable. This was not the only time he had been unpredictable, but in times past we made excuses. We know it was the right decision and luckily Brandon was not injured worse than he was. We miss Dodger!

Bardos Family Reunion

We are so lucky to have such a big and wonderful family. We all got together (minus 2) for a family reunion over fourth of July. Denny's dad was very happy to have everyone there. There are 29 grand-kids and it was announced that # 30 is in the oven and the first GREAT-grandchild is also in the oven! Hmmm, the Bardos grandkids usually come in threes......

Batesville Arkansas Trip

We went back to Batesville to visit our friends. I was able to see almost everyone in Mom's Club and made it for Mom's Night Out! Daniel and Breana hung out with many of their friends. We had a fun visit. Brandon enjoyed playing on the Presbyterian preschool playground and had many people to follow him and cater to his every need. He loves his Hannah!!

Angee and Jeff brought a cozy coup car and tricycle when we were at mom's. Angee was very smart to bring TWO riding toys so there would be no fighting...at least that was the idea! It did not matter who was on which riding toy, the other one wanted it. It was very funny to watch the way they tried to "work it out". We had to step in and help teach sharing skills. They ultimately enjoyed pushing one another in the cozy coup car!

Sweet Savannah

We took a trip to Mom and Philip's to have some family time. We had so much fun playing with Savannah! She and Brandon played together more and were so cute together! I think they fought over toys as much as the played together. It is so nice to be back closer to spend time with her and watch her grow up.

What a big boy we have. He is always wanting to do everything by himself. While staying in the dorms, he wanted to take a shower all by himself! I stood right outside the shower to help. He did a very good job washing all his body parts. I told him what part to wash and he smiled every time and started cleaning. I had to help with his hair, but he did the rest. I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast!

We went to visit Denny in Jackson. He is staying in a dorm-like room and there was not much to do there. I decided to get play-doh for the kids to play with. This was Brandon's first time to experience the joy of play-doh! He LOVED it! Breana liked showing him all the fun things he could do with it.

Omi (my grandmother)

Also, the day Denny had his wreck, I talked with my Aunt Cathy and she told me that my grandomother was not doing well. A few day before this, she went into the hospital with a horrible headache. The doctors concluded that she had a stroke. While she was in the hospital, she had a heart attack. I talked to her on the phone and realized that each day I called she was worse and in alot of pain. We decided to make the trip to Mississippi and see her. The day we arrived at the hospital, the doctors told the family that she was in multiple organ shut down. Angee met us at the hospital. We all took turns and did not leave her alone. It was a horrible thing to experience and watch!!! We made sure that she was comfortable. On Saturday, we needed to leave because Daniel and Breana were in Memphis. I wanted to be with them Easter morning when they woke up. I kissed Omi and told her that I love her!! That was so hard because I KNEW it was the last time I would see her and the last time she would HEAR me. She heard and responded in some way up until the end. We were gone from the hospital for about 30 minutes when Angee called and told us that she had taken her last breath. I cried the whole way to Memphis. I love Omi so much and have alot of memories of her. Those memories can never be taken away! I think about her pretty much everyday! I have had alot of loss in the past 8 months. I lost both of my Papaw's and now Omi. Omi said that she was ready to be with Pappaw. He died only 3 months before her. They were married 59 years.

Denny totaled his Camry

The SAME DAY we were getting the counters replaced, Denny had a wreck and totaled his 1998 Toyota Camry. Thankfully, he was not injured and neither was the person that he hit! State Farm decided that it would be more expensive to fix the car than what the car was worth...SO THEY TOTALED IT and gave us only $5,000. Not exactly enough to buy a new car! It was so nice to not have a car payment. He ended up getting a 2006 Honda Accord that has 18,000 miles and is fully loaded with heated leather seats and sunroof. Maybe we will keep this one until it just won't run anymore.

We absolutely LOVE the counter and sink! I HIGHLY recommend the UNDERMOUNT sinks! They are so nice and EASY to clean! Lowes did a great job and we got a really good deal on the materials. The installation team they contracted out was fabulous. We had a very good experience with Lowes when we got new carpets and Pergo floors!

Busy Busy Busy! New Countertops

LeAnn (my childhood friend) has informed me that I have been a slacker lately. I am glad that she takes the time to look at my blog. SO, I am going to load alot of pics to show WHY I have been slacking! hahaha
As you can see, our kitchen counters were a horrible shade of yellow, the sink was stained and chipped. We have done so much stuff in the house to bring it into this century and the counters were the LAST thing left to do. It was sooo worth it. We got Corian counter tops and stainless sink with a nice faucet.

Brandon at the Track Meet

Brandon was so good during the track meet! He sat in the stroller for an hour and a half!!!! There was not place for me to let him out to run or I would have. He got cold so he bundled up in the soft, cozy blanket! He started to get cranky around 5:30 when it was his dinner time. Who knew we would be there for so long!

We had Daniel's first track meet yesterday. Denny was out of town, but Brandon and I went to cheer him on. It was cold!! The whole meet was very unorganized and started very late. Daniel did very well in the high jump and placed 2nd!! He did not rum the 100 yard dash or any other running event. It is a long story not worth explaining. He has another meet on Thursday and Denny will be there to watch that one. Daniel;s final jump was 4'10"! We were there from 3:345pm until 6:45pm, and the only event he did was the HIGH JUMP...like I said, very unorganized!

Savannah calles Bernice and Hunter "BB and Popow". Brandon thought that was their name so he quickly started calling them that! It was very cute to see how quickly he warmed up to them and went around the house calling them. They were very sweet to him and loved to hold and kiss his neck! WHat little kid isn't going to like all that attention. They also took him out to play more than I did. They made a friend for life!

The rest of the time they were here we played with the kids, shopped at the outlet mall and just enjoyed being together! Bernice kept Brandon and Savannah for a while so Angee and I could go to Wal-Mart and to a kids clothing store ALONE!! Brandon's first "babysitter". He loves Bernice and Hunter!

We kept trying to get a really good picture of all four kids together. The smallest ones were not on the same page and wanted to constantly get down. Angee would always say "ok, we got it! Let's go, we're done" My kids LOVED that. Daniel pointed out that I always make them take 100's of pictures to get the perfect one. Oh well!!

Denny took Daniel, Breana, and Brandon in the bird house. Savannah had already had a traumatic experience a bit earlier. We were all looking at a goose and it flew up and tried to attack Daniel!! We all screamed because it happened so suddenly and scared poor Savannah to death!! She screamed at the goose and then cried. SO she did not go into the bird house. They fed the birds nectar to get them to land on them. The birds really liked Daniel. Brandon didn't want the bird ON him but he liked it when Denny held it! Breana liked them on her shirt but they tried to bite to get nectar, so she didn't hold them in her hand. SMART GIRL!

The next day was nice outside. It was a little chilly but perfect weather to take a trip to the zoo. This was Savannah's first trip to the zoo! She loved the petting zoo! She was a little intimidated by the goats at first. They practically jump on you to get food!

We had so much fun with Angee, Jeff, Savannah, Bernice and Hunter. They drove all night to get here after Jeff and Angee worked ALL DAY! Savannah was good on the 15 and a half hour car ride. That is such a long time for a baby! Bernice and Hunter went to visit Bernice's aunt that lives only 20 minutes from us. We just spent the first day hanging out at our house. Brandon loves Savannah! He kept yelling, "VANNAH!". They were learning how to share and they did very well. Daniel and Breana were happy to have them here.

Margaret decided to come to West Virginia to visit us for her Spring Break! She and her boyfriend, Christian came and stayed for a couple of days. Then, they went on to Niagria Falls, Canada, New Jersey and finally back to see us! We showed them around the "interesting" town of Wheeling. Margaret just kept saying that she knows where she will NEVER live! hahaha It was so much fun to have her here. Daniel, Breana and Brandon had NO IDEA that she was coming. I had to keep it a secret for weeks! Daniel had a dance the night they arrived and was not home the next day. Margaret climbed in the bed with Breana and the next morning when Breana went down stairs, Denny asked what she thought about the surprise. Breana asked why I slept in her bed!! Denny told her that it was Margaret and then Brean said, "I thought mom lost alot of weight". Out of the mouth of babes! Margaret and Christian went with us to go get Daniel from his friends house. We walked in and he saw he and his mouth fell open! I told Margaret that she pulled off the biggest surprise of their life! Brandon kept asking for "Mar-Mar" for a long time after they left. They day they left; Angee, Jeff, Savannah, Bernice (Jeff's mom) and Hunter ( Jeff's step-dad) came to visit!

Breana stayed home for school on Monday because she had a little cold. Brandon loves to climb in the chair with her or where ever she is sitting. He got a babydoll and sat with her patting the doll on the back and snuggled with breana. He kept telling the baby "night-night, sleepy". I am sure he didn't know that the very next day I would be rocking him for "night-night" instead of nursing him! He is one day shy of 16 months. I am ready to be finished nursing. I thought it would be impossible, but it is possible. It was hard an I almost gave in twice when he looked at me with those big, innocent eyes and said, "milk please, mmooommmyyy". It was so pitiful and I almost gave in. He finally gave in and fell asleep with me rocking him after 25 minutes. I felt a huge sigh of relief and now I KNOW that I can do it! It would have been much easier if he couldn't talk!

Brandon seems to be out growing his "baby" toys. He loves the book about dumpers and diggers so much. On one of the few days we could be outside, he went in our neighbors yard to play with the 7 year old boy's remote control back hoe. We bought him a backhoe and dump truck. He played with it for 40 minutes straight. Let me just say that it was WELL WORTH the $13 dollars!!!!!

Brandon loves his book about dumpers and diggers. He asked Daniel to read it to him about 15 times this particular day. Daniel was very sweet and just kept reading it over and over to him! What a good big brother. The best part was that he let me take his picture!!!!

Breana's Piano Recital

We had a very busy weekend. It started Saturday with Daniel having an ALL DAY soccer referee class. He passed the exam and will referee soccer games for ages 14 and under. He wanted to do this to make money. He will get paid $20 cash per game!! While he was at his class, Breana had a friend over to play, Denny had to work until 1:30pm and I finished painting the last room in our house. After Daniel got out of his class, he and several friends made plans to meet at the outdoor ice skating arena. We thought after over 8 hours of sitting in a class he deserved to go have some fun. Denny dropped him off because Daniel did not want me to go take pictures. It was his first time to go ice skating and he says he only fell a few times. He is very sore and has a few bruises to prove how much fun he had. Sunday, Breana had her second piano recital. She did very well but she is quick to tell us that she messed up. She had to memorize her piece and says she got nervous in front of the audience. The weekend ended with 6pm mass and Brandon and I sitting in the cry room with a lady who had no children and was hacking and snotting all over the place. I better not get her cold!!!

Daniel enjoys playing the guitar. I have not signed him up for lessons yet, but that doesn't stop him form learning on his own and making up his own tunes. He is very much like Denny in the way that he really loves music. I would say he enjoys it more than most people. We were snowed in for about a week and he decided to get Breana and Brandon to jam in the living room. It was so cute. Brandon started dancing and singing. We may have our own family band one day. I promised the kids that I would NOT be lead singer! hahaha

Basketball game at Wheeling Jesuit University

Breana was away with a friend and the rest of us decided to go to the Basketball game at WJU. Daniel's friend from school is the coach of the girls team. He enjoyed hanging out with his friend. Brandon loved watching the action of the game and he also loved climbing the bleachers. Denny got a real work out that day! It was a very intense game with double OT! The only way we could get Brandon to sit still was to give him a snack. Daniel and his friend, Jacob, took him for a while to hang out and enjoyed getting him to say different random things. The lady with Brandon is Beth. She is Jacob's mom and was our realtor when we moved here. She has loved Brandon since he was born. As you can tell he likes her too.

Illness in the family

Sorry is has been a while since my last post. We have had illness in the Bardos house. Denny, Breana and Brandon all had Bronchitis that included fever and body aches. Brandon also had an ear infection on top of everything else. The first two days he was sick, he only wanted me to hold him. I eventually had to go to the bathroom and Branon wanted Daniel to hold him. Daniel was so sad to see his lil brother so lethargic. Breana offered him many of her toys that he is usually not allowed to play with. He was too sick to even hold his head up, but it was a generous offer. Thankfully, Daniel and I were spared from the sickness. It is truly a MIRACLE that I did not get sick. I was taking care of everyone and Denny actually sneezed right in my face while he slept! I had all three at urgent care on the same day! I am SOOOOO glad that is over.

Fun outside WITHOUT snow

We had one day recently that the snow had melted and it was actually nice enough to go outside. Breana and Brandon wanted to go sit on the trampoline. Breana is very good and including Brandon in things that she is doing. Brandon really enjoyed walking around exploring everything and swinging. This was his first day to WALK outside without snow being on the ground. We ALL enjoyed it!!

These pictures were taken in the summer. I just love them because it shows how much Daniel and Breana love Brandon. We were afraid that since they are considerably older than him they would be into their own things and forget about him. I must say that as soon as they get in the car at school, they are ALL about him. Now, they do get into their own world sometimes and leave him out. But, for the most part, if they are doing homework he is right there with his pencil, when they do their chores he is beside them with a broom or something. I just LOVE IT!! Maybe the chore thing will last forever.....doubt it.

Breana got a new pair of boots and Brandon was just DYING to wear them. Breana gets a bit jealous and tired of giving HER things to let him play with, but this particular day, she was happy to put him in her boots. As you can see by the pictures, he is delighted to be like his big sissy!! He is such a funny boy!

Well we had a rather interesting weekend. Breana and Denny decided to go sledding together. It all started out fun! Breana wanted to show Denny a new hill that she and her friend found to sled on. They had me come out and take video and a few pictured. They had alot of fun together sledding and racing down the hill. Denny got tired of walking back up the hill so he came inside for a hot cup of mocha. I of course was already back inside because we all know that I do NOT like the cold. Breana stayed outside and went sledding with her friend. Her friend brought a tube out and they drank their hot chocolate on our trampoline. We looked out the window when we saw them walking up the hill with the tube. Breana and her friend got on together and started down the hill. Denny, Daniel, and I watched out the kitchen window. Suddenly, we see the friend jump off, we were waiting for Breana to jump off because the tube was heading very fast toward a house. The tube turned toward a drop off and a parked SUV. We were yelling "jump off" to ourselves! Then, we see her hit, head first into the side of the SUV going about 13-20 mile per hour!!!! Not excatly an image a parent needs to see. I ran down the hill in short sleeves and no shoes, falling down the hill several times to get to her as quickly as I could. She was screaming "Mommy Mommy". Screaming was a good thing because at least I knew she wasn't knocked out. Denny came out and carried her up to the house. We could see no sign of where she actually hit her head. She was dizzy, nausious,seeing spots, and stomach pain. I decided to not wait it out and took her to a minor medical. She was evaluated and we were told that she had a grade 2 concussion. The rate concussions on a 1-3 scale. Thankfully, it is not as bad as it could have been. She has been laying around since with headaches and dizziness. I think she will be well enough to go school tomorrow. We are hoping that she will not have any long term effects from this. She can not have any blows to the head for a while.

Brandon wanted to take a bath. So, Breana decided she would come upstairs and visit with me while I cleaned Brandon. As I was getting the bath water just right, Brandon climbed right in...Pajamas and all!! I eventually got the clingy p.j.'s off and then Breana decided to get in the tub. Brandon did not want to get out of the tub until Breana got out. Then he wanted the towel that she was wearing. He kept kissing her trying to get her to give him her towel. It didn't work. hahaha She did hold him after they both got out. That helped the towel issue a little.

Art Time

Brandon loves to be like his big brother (aka:buba or Dandel) and big sister (aka:sissy or Be-Ba). He likes getting crayons, colored pencils, pens, and markers to play with. He finds them all over the house...I think he stashes them places! I thought he was old enough to teach him the proper use of these items, so I contained him in his booster seat and gave his a colored pencil and crayon. He had so much fun seeing himself mark on the paper. He tried to put them in his mouth a few times, but when I threatened to take them away, he continued using them to draw. He did a really good job for his first time.

These are the two other members of our family...Dodger is half German Shepard and half Border Collie. He is a very smart, active and loyal dog. We have had him since he was a puppy 8 years ago. Checkers is a Peek-a-Poo! He is a great lap dog and loves to get tons of attention. Checkers only likes Brandon when he throws food off of his high chair! Brandon and Checkers' new thing lately is that they fight over the same ball. We have many balls around the house, but they want the one that the other has. Checkers is like the pokey little puppy who always thought the grass was greener on the other side of the fence. He runs away any chance he gets. Dodger could be left out of his pen for days and never leave the yard. Dodger does get defensive over the kids and his territory though...just ask Philip ( my step-dad).

Poor Brandon was so tired that he just couldn't fall asleep with me nursing or rocking him. This is the first time this happened. I had to let him cry himself to sleep!! I felt SO bad, but knew he wouldn't cry long. He only cried for 6 minutes....WHICH SEEMED LIKE FOREVER!!! I checked on him after it got quite and had to take a few pictures. I made sure to put him in a more comfortable position and covered him up. Poor baby! I am sure it won't be the last time this happens, especially when I wean him. I am NOT looking forward to that.

Mr. Potty Boy

Okay, so I know that Brandon is very young to really focus on potty training. But, everytime I would go to the bathroom he wanted to go with me and sit in my lap. I finally bought him a potty seat and thought that at least he would have his OWN place to sit while he goes to the bathroom with me. He sat on it a few times with his diaper on and then one day he help his diaper and said "pee pee". I just thought he wanted to PLAY in the bathroom but Breana and I decided to just take his diaper off and let him try. He sat, peed and then got up and said "all done"!!! We were amazed!! Then, he waved and said "bye bye" to the pee pee. He acted liek he had been doing it his whole life. He does not go every day on the potty but does start to tell me when he goes in his diaper. I don't want to jinx it, but he might be our easiest to potty train!

Every year we buy each kid a pumpkin and let them design it. Then Denny cuts the top, Breana scoops out the guts ( Daniel doesn't like that part). Denny and I both help start the carving and then the kids finish up the carving. I salt and roast the seeds and then the kids devour the seeds. This is a great fall tradition that the kids look forward to each season.

Brandon got a rocking horse for Christmas. He LOVES it! It makes horse noises and sings a corney song. When he first saw it and heard it make noises, he was scared. It didn't take him long to get on it and try it out. It is so sweet when he kisses it. He is a very affectionate little boy. He kisses everything...he tried to kiss the potty seat after he went to the bathroom!! YUCK! I stopped him before he could actually do it! THANK GOODNESS!!!

We got about six inches of snow and Daniel decided to try out his snowboard. He is a thrill seeker. He wiped out a few times!

For Brandon's birthday we went to the zoo. Denny had to work but Daniel and Breana had the day off from school. Brandon enjoyed looking at the animals and Daniel and Breana enjoyed showing him the animals. This picture was taken inside a play area at the zoo. Daniel and Breana were vet's taking care of the baby "monkey". They are SO good with him!
